Value is lost after signing, not at it

The terms were right. The diligence was thorough. Then, quietly, the acquired business begins to drift. Reporting slows and thins. Decisions that should take a week take a quarter. The people who made the company worth buying start to leave.

Most of the value a Japanese acquirer expects from a UK or European business is won or lost in the eighteen months after completion, in a company a continent away, run by people who raise problems differently from how the board might expect to hear them.

By the time the numbers show it, the trust that would have fixed it has usually gone.

What we do

Board and leadership alignment

Advisory to the chairman and chief executive. Aligning the acquiring board with the executive team of the acquired company, and keeping the channel between them open and transparent.

Integration design and delivery

Pre-completion planning, the first hundred days, integration governance, and reporting frameworks that give the board what it actually needs to see.

Independent assessment

Integration health checks, post-acquisition performance reviews, synergy validation, and early sight of the risks nobody has escalated yet.

Reset and resolution

Rescue of integrations that have stalled, and mediation where the relationship between owner and management has broken down.

Independent, and nothing else

Kizuna PMI earns no transaction fee, holds no audit relationship, and does not place interim managers. We are engaged by the chairman, we report to the chairman, and we have no reason to tell the chairman anything other than precisely what is happening.

That independence is the service. Everything else follows from it.

An introduction, in confidence

Most engagements begin with a private conversation about a situation that has not yet been written down. Nothing discussed in it leaves it.
